WHAT IS YOGA NIDRA?
Yoga Nidra, often called “yogic sleep,” is a deeply relaxing practice that guides one into a state of conscious sleep. Unlike traditional yoga, which involves physical postures, yoga Nidra is practiced lying down in a comfortable position. The practice consists of listening to a series of verbal instructions that guide you through various stages of relaxation.
Yoga Nidra has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety levels. It can help improve the quality of sleep and manage insomnia. Regular practice can boost mood, increase resilience, and promote emotional healing. It can also help regulate heart rate, lower blood pressure, and improve physical health.
Yoga Nidra is accessible to everyone, regardless of physical ability. It’s a wonderful way to find deep relaxation and inner peace.
Our Yoga Nidra session will take place with the sounds of Himalayan and crystal bowls. The soothing vibrations and harmonics of these bowls will enrich the Nidra experience, helping to deepen relaxation and enhance the meditative state.
SOUND BATH MEDITATION
After the restorative yoga nidra, you will be guided into a healing sound bath meditation experience.
A sound bath is a form of sound therapy that uses the vibrations of various therapeutic instruments to induce a state of deep relaxation and meditation. The sound of the Himalayan and crystal singing bowls creates a spectrum of harmonics that promote healing and release blockages within the body, mind, and spirit. As you lie comfortably on your mat, the gentle waves of sound wash over you, allowing you to sink into a state of pure bliss and tranquillity.
WHY ‘RADICAL REST’?
In today’s fast-paced world, taking time to rest has become a bold and necessary act. In a society that often glorifies busyness and overwork, choosing to rest and recharge can sometimes be seen as a sign of weakness or laziness. We’re often expected to constantly work and achieve to feel successful and valuable.
Because of this, many people push themselves to the edge of burnout, sacrificing their physical and mental health. This constant state of stress and exhaustion can lead to many negative effects, like decreased productivity, mood swings, and even chronic health issues.
By choosing to prioritise rest and self-care, we’re embracing our right to take a break and focus on our well-being. We’re standing up for ourselves and rejecting the harmful idea that our worth is tied to how productive we are.
Taking time to rest has become a bold, radical move because it challenges the norm and makes society face the negative impacts of overwork and constant busyness. It’s a powerful act of self-preservation and a stand against the pressures of modern life.
Throughout the event, you will be supported by the soothing presence of our experienced facilitators who will guide you through each step of the process with care and compassion. The combination of restorative yoga and gong bath creates a powerful synergy that allows you to release tension, quiet the mind, and connect with your inner peace.
Whether you are new to yoga and meditation or a regular practitioner, Radical Rest offers a safe and nurturing space for you to explore the depths of relaxation and healing. This event is suitable for all levels of experience and is accessible to everyone, regardless of age or physical ability.
